Bridgetown Electric can add value to your home by removing your existing knob and tube wiring and replacing it with new, code-compliant wiring.

Knob and Tube Abatement

Scope of Work:

• Disconnect existing accessible knob and tube wiring
• Provide and install new wiring in accessible attic or crawl space areas
• Provide and install junction boxes as needed for knob and tube abatement
• Test when completed

Pricing:

• Base price per main area (basement/attic/crawl space) — $3,495.00

Options and Additions:

• Install new wiring to existing electrical device (wall switch or wall receptacle) — $450.00 each
• Add or replace ceiling device boxes for code compliance — $235.00 each
• Replace existing washer or dryer circuit (wire only) — $795.00
• Permits for wiring in open walls (up to three circuits) — $350.00
• Permitting for each additional circuit — $40.00 each
• Corrections and/or repairs to non-code-compliant wiring — $170 per hour + materials

Qualifications and Inclusions:

• All wiring meets the requirements of the 2023 National Electrical Code
• Electrical permit fee includes accessible wiring
• All insulation removed by others prior to start of work
• All pest issues resolved by others prior to start of work
• All wiring accessible with appropriate working clearances
• “Area” is defined as attic, workable crawl space, or basement with open rafters — square footage restrictions may apply

Exclusions:

• Sheetrock removal and/or repairs for electrical access
• Replacement of any existing wiring inside walls
• Insulation removal and/or replacement
• Corrections and/or repairs to non-code-compliant wiring not related to knob and tube abatement
• Omissions or changes from information provided
• Replacement of washer/dryer circuits
• Additional permit costs for wiring in inaccessible/covered areas

Electrical Service Upgrade

You may need to upgrade the size of your service. We’ll coordinate with your power company, rebuild your service drop and meter, and replace your existing electrical panel to match the new incoming service size.

We can update it to current code and safety requirements for you! We will disconnect and remove the existing knob and tube wiring and provide and install new wiring and junction boxes. We can also replace the wiring to your devices, switches, and lighting.
